TO: ALL BRANCHES
Dear Colleague
UNISON Camden Branch Members employed in the Library Service have been on official strike since 26 February 1998. This action follows an overwhelming vote for indefinite strike action by the members and the failure of management to enter into meaningful negotiations after a one-day strike on 20 February.
The Council is bringing in a new staffing structure which will involve redundancies, down-gradings, enforced changes to part-timers’ hours. At the same time the Council is beginning public consultation on an overall review of the library services involving closures and changes which cut across this imposed staffing review and thereby further disrupting our members.
The strike has been well-supported and branches are urged to send messages of support and donations to the strikers, to the Camden UNISON Branch at:
59 Phoenix Court, Brill Place, London, NW1 1ES
Telephone No: 0171-911 1833 (Direct Line)
Cheques should be made out to "Camden UNISON". They will also be happy to send speakers to UNISON meetings.
Yours sincerely
Chris Humphreys
Regional Secretary
